Dutch statistics on crimes, shoplifting, bankruptcies, and fires for various parts of 1979 and 1980 are reported.
Abstract
Statistical tables show the offenses reported in May 1980, to the police by province, groups of communities, and type of offense, as well as to the Royal Constabulary by type of offense. Offenses for which official reports were recorded by the police or the Royal Constabulary for which fines were paid to avoid prosecution, are also listed by type of offense. Statistics on crimes for 1979 indicate the number of each type of crime tried in district courts and penalties imposed for the offenses. Figures are also provided on the various offenses heard in magistrates' courts in 1979. A separate accounting is given for shoplifting offenses in the first quarter of 1980 by type of group involved, value of stolen goods, age and characteristics of offenders, residence of offenders, and types of locations from which goods were stolen. A series of tables records the bankruptcies for the first half of 1980 by province, by the 17 largest municipalities, by professional area, and by legal type. Tables are provided on fires in May 1980 by province, by the 17 largest communities, and by fire damage and type of fire, as well as on fire department assistance in the first quarter of 1980 by province, by the 17 largest municipalities, by the object burned, and by the number of persons affected by rescues or accidents. A graph traces the course of bankruptcies each month from 1976 to July 1980.
