A SENIOR CITIZEN SWITCHES ROLES FROM SECOND-STORY MAN TO BUS CONDUCTOR IN A SERIES OF FOUR FILMS THAT OFFERS CRIME PREVENTION MEASURES SENIOR CITIZENS CAN TAKE TO KEEP THEMSELVES SAFER AT HOME AND ON THE STREETS.
Abstract
THE FIRST FILM SUGGESTS THAT SENIOR CITIZENS CAN OUTWIT PROSPECTIVE THIEVES BY DIRECT DEPOSIT OF SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS AND BY USING MONEY ORDERS INSTEAD OF CASH. THE FILM ALSO DRAMATIZES SUCH CON SCHEMES AS THE BANK EXAMINER AND THE GYPSY SWITCH, WARNS AGAINST MEDICAL FRAUDS AND MIRACLE MACHINES, AND ASKS THE AUDIENCE IF THEY CAN REALLY MAKE A MILLION RAISING WORMS. A SECOND FILM ON HOME SECURITY GIVES SOME INEXPENSIVE TIPS ON IMPROVING HOME SECURITY, SOME SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT TO DO IF A BURGLARY IS IN PROGRESS, AND DISCUSSES POLICE-COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IN A NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM. SAFETY IN TRANSIT IS THE THEME OF A THIRD FILM ON PERSONAL SECURITY AT THE BUS STOP, ON THE BUS, AND IN DRIVING A CAR. A FINAL FILM WARNS SENIOR CITIZENS TO WATCH OUT FOR PURSE SNATCHERS, OUTLINES SOME CRIME PREVENTION MEASURES, AND SUGGESTS THAT GOING OUT WITH FRIENDS CAN BE THE BEST PROTECTION.
