This report presents the final assessment of the North Plaistow Racial Harassment Project which was initiated in 1987 as a multi-agency initiative involving statutory, voluntary, and community organizations.
Abstract
The most significant contribution of the North Plaistow Racial Harassment Project is its provision of a more detailed understanding of the practice of multi-agency coordination. The report notes several initiatives which were developed during the course of the project that point to improved practice in informing victims and potential victims of racial harassment of available services and in monitoring the quality of service delivery. To enhance multi-agency coordination, agencies must be clear about their commitment and objectives. Much has been learned during the 4 years of the project, particularly about the utility and functioning of the multi-agency approach. The project also has illustrated that considerably more needs to be learned if the multi-agency approach is to realize its promise as an effective response to racial attacks. 28 references
