EVALUATION OF THE SAN FRANCISCO POLICE CRIME LABORATORY AND OF THE BENEFITS DERIVED FROM NEW PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT OBTAINED THROUGH A FEDERAL GRANT.
Abstract
THE STUDY BEGINS WITH AN OUTLINE OF EXISTING OPERATIONS. THE INSTRUMENTS AND PERSONNEL ACQUIRED UNDER THE GRANT ARE DESCRIBED AND THEIR POTENTIAL USEFULNESS IS DISCUSSED. THE TYPES OF EVALUATIONS PERFORMED BY CRIME LABORATORIES IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA ARE IDENTIFIED. THE REPORT CONCLUDES THAT THE PRIMARY PROBLEM IN THE SAN FRANCISCO CRIME LABORATORY IS LACK OF PERSONNEL.
