Abstract
THE DIVISION SUMMARY NOTES THAT FOUR NEW UNITS -- CRIME ANALYSIS, SPECIAL ENFORCEMENT (DESIGNED TO PROVIDE FLEXIBILITY IN BURGLARY INVESTIGATIONS), WORD PROCESSING, AND PERSONNEL/FISCAL MANAGEMENT -- WERE INTRODUCED IN 1977. COMPUTER-ASSISTED DISPATCHING WAS IMPLEMENTED DURING THE YEAR, AS WAS A NEW CAR PURCHASE PLAN THAT DISTRIBUTES REPLACEMENT VEHICLES OVER THE ENTIRE YEAR. OTHER PROJECTS INCLUDED EVALUATIONS OF 9-MM AUTOMATIC PISTOLS, ARMORED VESTS, NEW HOLSTERS, AND NEW UNIFORM HATS. A PHYSICAL FITNESS PROGRAM WAS ALSO INTRODUCED. THE DIVISION'S ACTIVITIES ARE DOCUMENTED IN SECTIONS ON COMMUNICATIONS, UNIT REPORTS, MANAGEMENT SERVICES, COMMUNITY AFFAIRS, CRIME PREVENTION, SEARCH AND RESCUE, FIREARMS AND MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING, AWARDS, AND POLICE ACADEMY ACTIVITIES.
