This is the yearly report of activities by the National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders (NACRO) in their attempts to prevent and reduce crime.
Abstract
NACRO's work to prevent and reduce crime begins by working with individuals in the following areas: developing people's potential; providing opportunities; motivating young people; adapting training to the local job market; enabling people to undertake training; helping people find jobs; providing opportunities to develop talents; providing high levels of support; helping individuals make the transition from prison. The organization also works with communities by providing resources for community rebuilding; regenerating run-down areas; helping unemployed people contribute to their communities; helping to find local solutions. NACRO works with criminal justice services, probation services and prisons. These partnerships attempt to confront youth crime in cities, provide bail services, end racial discrimination, and increase prisoners' access to training and employment. NACRO forms partnerships also with training and enterprise councils, employers, housing organizations, health and social services, schools and volunteer organizations. This report includes NACRO addresses, council and advisory committees, and charitable trusts and companies.
