OUTLINE OF INSTRUCTION ON NARCOTICS AND DANGEROUS DRUGS FOR POLICE OFFICERS.
Abstract
SPECIALIZED WORDS IN THE DRUG FIELD ARE DEFINED. LEGAL DRUG ABUSE IS THE ABUSE OF A LEGAL DRUG SUBSTANCE IN SUCH A WAY AS TO CAUSE DANGER OR HARM. THE HISTORY, CHARACTERISTICS AND USE OF ADDICTIVE DRUGS, STIMULANTS, DEPRESSANTS, AND HALLUCINOGENS IS GIVEN. PROCUREMENT METHODS, LEGAL AND ILLEGAL, AND INVESTIGATIVE TECHNIQUES ON METHODS OF OBTAINING NARCOTIC AND DANGEROUS DRUG EVIDENCE IS PRESENTED. FIELD TESTS FOR NARCOTICS IDENTIFICATION AND THEIR VALUE AND VALIDITY IN COURT ARE EXPLAINED. FEDERAL, OREGON, AND LOCAL NARCOTICS LAWS CARRYING PENALTIES ARE DISCUSSED. APPENDICES CONTAIN LISTS OF PRESCRIPTION DRUGS AND INFORMATION TIPS TO PHARMACISTS AND PHYSICIANS.
