Abstract
NARCOTICS AND HALLUCINOGENS BEGINS BY BRIEFLY EXPLORING SOME OF THE PROBLEMS INVOLVED IN DRUG ABUSE, POSSIBLE CAUSES, AND ATTEMPTS AT TREATMENT, INCLUDING THE CONTROVERSIAL BRITISH SYSTEM. THE SECOND DIVISION CONSISTS OF DRUG DEFINITIONS, CLASSIFICATION SYSTEMS, AND BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS OF OPIUM, MORPHINE, HEROIN, CODEINE, COCAINE, MARIJUANA, BARBITURATES, AMPHETAMINES, AND HALLUCINOGENIC DRUGS. THE FINAL SECTION DISCUSSES VARIOUS METHODS OF CONTROLLING AND TREATING DRUG ADDICTION, INCLUDING GUIDELINES AND ACTIVITIES OF THE UNITED NATIONS.
