PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION OF THE FEASIBILITY, ECONOMIC BENEFITS, AND CONSTRAINTS OF A POSSIBLE CONSOLIDATION OF TWO RHODE ISLAND COMMUNITY POLICE DEPARTMENTS.
Abstract
THE ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENTS ARE COMPARED, AND THE FACILITIES, STAFF, COMMUNICATIONS CAPABILITIES, PROGRAMS, AND EQUIPMENT PURCHASING ARE JUXTAPOSED. ESTIMATED COST SAVINGS OF CONSOLIDATION ARE OUTLINED. IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT POLICE CONSOLIDATION OF THE TWO COMMUNITIES WOULD BE ECONOMICALLY FEASIBLE AND WOULD PROMOTE COMMUNITY SERVICE.
