This article discusses the role of gender in violence.
Abstract
The expression of violence and the conceptualization, implementation, and maintenance of socially defined gender roles are determined by a normative network of the broader society with its structure, functioning, and by repeated systemic violence. Violence is one of the basic human characteristics that is subjected to legal regulation. All new, marginal social groups that have been empirically verified as more violent than others call for the re-conceptualization of violence as well as other phenomena related to a marginal social status. This seems to be the only way to overcome the existing situation and make a significant theoretical and practical shift toward the re-examination of the role of gender in violence. 24 references
