Abstract
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE CLEARINGHOUSE ARE TO PROMOTE THE CONCEPT OF SYSTEMS TRANSFER, TO FURNISH ACCESS TO INFORMATION ON TRANSFERRABLE SYSTEMS, AND TO IDENTIFY AND PROMOTE OUTSTANDING SYSTEMS. IN ITS FIRST YEAR, THE CLEARINGHOUSE LAUNCHED A PUBLIC INFORMATION PROGRAM, CREATED AN AUTOMATED INDEX OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEMS, AND PROVIDED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO STATE AND LOCAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES. AS OF AUGUST 1977, THE CLEARINGHOUSE HAD RENDERED ASSISTANCE TO OVER 133 AGENCIES. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TEAMS HAD PROVIDED SYSTEMS TRANSFER EXPERTISE TO OVER 30 CLIENTS. REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION FROM THE AUTOMATED INDEX HAD BEEN RECEIVED FROM 103 AGENCIES IN 32 STATES. THE REQUESTING AGENCIES WERE PROVIDED A TOTAL OF 1,399 COMPUTER-GENERATED REPORTS. THE ANNUAL REPORT INCLUDES A DESCRIPTION OF THE AUTOMATED INDEX, SAMPLE REPORTS GENERATED BY THE INDEX, A LIST OF AGENCIES RECEIVING TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS OF THE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROVIDED EACH AGENCY. PLANS TO HOLD WORKSHOPS ON SYSTEMS TRANSFER AND TO ESTABLISH A PROGRAM FOR IDENTIFYING PROMINENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS ARE NOTED.
