This report describes the activities during 1992-93 of the National Clearinghouse on Family Violence of Health Canada, a national resource center for all Canadians seeking information and solutions to violence within the family.
Abstract
In November 1992, the Clearinghouse marked its 10th anniversary of operations. The Clearinghouse gathers, organizes, and disseminates existing information; develops new information; and provides consultation regarding prevention, treatment, training, and research projects in the areas of child abuse, violence against women, and abuse of the elderly. Resources available for distribution during 1992-93 included fact sheets, articles, booklets, monographs, inventories, abstracts, reports, and guidelines. The Clearinghouse also maintains a contractual relationship with Canada's National Film Board for the management and expansion of a joint family violence prevention audiovisual collection. During the year, the Clearinghouse received approximately 35,048 requests for information, an increase of almost 6,000 from the previous year. Figures
