DESCRIPTIONS OF STATE CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS ARE PRESENTED IN A DIRECTORY PREPARED BY THE NATIONAL CRIME PREVENTION INSTITUTE.
Abstract
THE DIRECTORY CONSISTS OF COMPLETED QUESTIONNAIRES RETURNED TO THE INSTITUTE BY 19 STATES IN RESPONSE TO A 1977 SURVEY OF STATE-LEVEL CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS. INFORMATION ON PROGRAM ORGANIZATION, FUNDING, STAFFING, GOALS AND OBJECTIVES, SPECIFIC PROJECTS, EVALUATION FINDINGS, SPECIAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS, AND FUTURE PLANS IS SUMMARIZED. THE RESPONDENTS ALSO INDICATE THEIR NEED FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND THEIR QUALIFICATIONS FOR PROVIDING SUCH ASSISTANCE TO OTHER STATES AND, IN SOME INSTANCES, PROVIDE SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION (GRANT APPLICATIONS, PROJECT MATERIALS, ETC.). ALSO INCLUDED ARE LISTS OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS THAT HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS. THE DIRECTORY INCLUDES RESPONSES FROM ALASKA, ARKANSAS, CALIFORNIA, COLORADO, FLORIDA, GEORGIA, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, KENTUCKY, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, NEW MEXICO, NORTH DAKOTA, OHIO, SOUTH CAROLINA, TEXAS, UTAH, WASHINGTON, AND WISCONSIN.
