This directory is a compilation of 12,256 Federal, State, local, and private providers responsible for alcoholism and drug abuse treatment and prevention services provided throughout the 50 States, American Samoa, the District of Columbia, the Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Trust Territories, and the Virgin Islands.
Abstract
The information included in this directory was extracted from the fiscal year 1994 National Drug and Alcoholism Treatment Unit Survey, which collected information on all known alcoholism and drug abuse services and clients in treatment on the point prevalence date of October 1, 1993. The directory is intended as a resource for program managers, treatment personnel, researchers, and others interested in the location and selected characteristics of alcoholism and drug abuse service providers. The directory includes treatment, prevention, and other nontreatment service providers. Private as well as publicly funded programs are included. Data collected from all treatment providers includes identification information; type and scope of services provided; client capacity and use; selected client characteristics (including age, gender, and race/ethnic group); and funding sources. Prevention facilities complete a partial survey that contains identification information and type and scope of services provided. The directory consists of listings of State authorities, State prevention contacts, and alcoholism and drug abuse treatment and prevention service providers. Also included are programs administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Indian Health Service, the Bureau of Prisons, and the Department of Defense. Within each State, all providers are alphabetized by city and facility name within that city. Each facility listing consists of the facility name, address, telephone number, hotline number, and types of services provided.
