This report reviews the origin, volume, drug routes, models of transport, and smuggling methods of all the drugs on the Canadian illicit market, as well as the flow of money associated with it.
Abstract
Data came from law enforcement and other governmental agencies, foreign governments, and drug prevention and research organizations. Analysis showed that Thailand, Burma, and Laos were the main sources of heroin destined for Canada. The abuse and availability of cocaine are rising. The majority of people using cocaine are ages 20 to 40, male, and with middle to high incomes. Most cocaine originates in Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil, and often crosses Florida and California before reaching Canada. Marijuana, hashish, and liquid hashish were the most prevalent drugs of abuse in Canada and were in abundant supply in 1986. Clandestine laboratories produce liquid hashish and other chemical drugs like phencyclidine (PCP). Tables, maps, and information about drug seizures and other law enforcement activities.
