This survey measured the prevalence of use of illicit drugs, alcohol, tobacco products, and nonmedical use of prescription drugs in the United States.
Abstract
The survey was based on a stratified, multi-stage area probability sample. The target population included all civilian residents 12 years of age and older of households and noninstitutional group quarters. Data collection, through personal visits, was continuous over the calendar year 1995. The report is presented in four sections: (1) Introduction (Survey Methodology, Procedures for Deriving Population Estimates, Format and Organization of the Population Estimates Tables, and Considerations in Interpreting the Data); (2) Sample Sizes and US Population Tables; (3) Estimates of Prevalence of Use of Specific Drugs and Drug Classes (marijuana; cocaine and crack; heroin; hallucinogens, including LSD and PCP; inhalants; or nonmedical use of psychotherapeutics); and (4) Frequency of Drug Use Among Past Year Users.
