Abstract
THE 2-DAY MEETING OF THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE OF THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE WAS CALLED TO COORDINATE ATTACKS ON THE CRIME PROBLEM AND TO EXAMINE THE EFFECTS OF ACTION IN ONE AREA OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE ON OTHER PARTS OF THE SYSTEM. FOLLOWING A WELCOME AND A KEYNOTE ADDRESS BY AN LEAA DEPUTY ADMINISTRATOR, PRESENTATIONS WERE PROVIDED REGARDING THE INSTITUTE'S HISTORY AND PRESENT ORGANIZATION, THE PLANNING PROCESS, OPERATIONS AND MAJOR RESEARCH EFFORTS OF THE OFFICE OF RESEARCH PROGRAMS, THE MAJOR ISSUES FACING THE OFFICE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (R AND D), AND THE OPERATIONS AND MAJOR PROGRAMS OF THE OFFICE OF TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER AND THE OFFICE OF EVALUATION. THE SESSIONS ON THE SECOND DAY WERE DEVOTED TO SUBCOMMITTEE MEETINGS. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS ARE INCLUDED. APPENDED MATERIALS INCLUDE A COPY OF THE AGENDA, A SUMMARY LIST OF RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE TASK FORCE ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE R AND D STANDARDS AND GOALS, AN APPROPRIATION HISTORY, AND DETAILED BUDGET FIGURES.
