This codebook lists the variables and coding information for the data file which gives the names, addresses, structure, jurisdiction, and location of records for the more than 20,000 courts and related agencies included in the National Justice Agency List Court Subfile.
Abstract
The introduction describes the study and discusses data collection procedures, file structure, data standards, and codebook information. The file includes all State and local courts, but excludes such entities as workmen's compensation boards and justices of the peace. Subdivisions and departments handling specific types of cases within a court are not listed separately. The data are available in two formats: a card-image file and an OSIRIS data set. An appendix, which explains the classification of governmental units, and a glossary are included.
