THIS MANUAL PROVIDES A TRAINING COURSE FOR LEGISLATIVE SECURITY PERSONNEL, IDENTIFIES COMMON SECURITY PROBLEMS FOR LEGISLATIVE BODIES, AND IDENTIFIES RESOURCES.
Abstract
A SURVEY OF LEGISLATIVE ADMINISTRATORS REVEALED THAT MOST SECURITY STAFFS WERE NOT PREPARED WELL TO HANDLE DEMONSTRATIONS, BURGLARIES, VIP PROTECTION, BOMB THREATS, OR CRIME PREVENTION DUTIES. MAJOR TRAINING NEEDS WERE IDENTIFIED AS BOMB THREAT MANAGEMENT, VIP PROTECTION, PUBLIC RELATIONS, EMERGENCY MEDICAL PROCEDURES, AND SECURITY PROGRAM PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT. LESSON PLANS WERE PREPARED PARTLY IN RESPONSE TO THESE NEEDS. THEY INCLUDE PUBLIC RELATIONS, CROWD CONTROL, VIP PROTECTION, COMMUNICATIONS, BOMB THREATS AND SEARCHES, AND BUILDING SECURITY.
