Training modules for probation and parole officers provide instructors guidelines and instruction aids on various aspects of drug-abuse intervention on behalf of probationers and parolees.
Abstract
The first sections of the manual list project personnel, the faculty for the San Antonio seminar, curriculum authors, and modules and trainers. Each of the training modules has a lesson plan cover sheet that indicates the session title, the time frame for the module, the instruction methods to be used, and the equipment and supplies needed. Each module also outlines lesson goals, objectives, background reading, and handouts. A module schedule shows the time alloted for each phase of the module presentation. Instruction method and major points of emphasis are presented for each phase of the module. Modules address the future impact of drug use on probation and parole agencies, the relationship between drug use and crime, the creation and implementation of a drug program, identification and assessment, drug screening, the pharmacology of street drugs, intervention and treatment, AIDS prevention for drug abuse programs, supervision and surveillance, the evaluation of drug abuse programs, legal issues, and resource development.
