In 1985 criminal justice experts from the Philippines developed the National Strategy to Reduce Crime in the 1980's,; a followup to a 1976 program that contains action programs recommended for implementation by the criminal justice system.
Abstract
The Strategy sets objectives and targets that are measurable by both quantitative and qualitative indicators for purposes of evaluation. Its four objectives are (1) to promote the security of persons and property through the provision of adequate and improved police and fire services, (2) to provide fair and humane handling of suspects, (3) to provide effective rehabilitation of offenders, and (4) to enhance citizen awareness and participation in the functions of criminal justice agencies. The Strategy is being implemented this year through the 1989 National Crime Prevention Program. This Program presents priorities for action to increase the efficiency of the criminal justice system; reduce crime; and enhance fairness, justice, integrity, and morality in criminal justice administration.
