Abstract
SINCE UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS OFTEN ACCOMPANY POLICE COMMUNITY RELATIONS PROGRAMS SUCH PROGRAMS CAN NOT BE CONSIDERED THE SOLUTION TO SOCIETY'S ILL. AT BEST, THEY CAN BE EXPECTED TO AMELIORATE THE DISTRUST AND FEAR BETWEEN ANTAGONISTIC GROUPS. PUBLIC ATTITUDES ABOUT POLICE CONDUCT.
