This resource provides the agenda for and information presented at the 2007 Workshop on Sex Offender Management and Accountability.
Abstract
The 2007 National Symposium on Sex Offender Management and Accountability was held July 25-27, 2007, in Indianapolis, IN. Attendees included: law enforcement, parole officers, prosecutors, probation officers, and officials who monitor sex offenders. The Symposium provided jurisdictional representatives with advanced training to assist in their work towards implementation of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA), and offered nationally-recognized expert speakers and panel presentations in various areas of sex offender management and accountability. Topics covered include: Bringing SORNA State Legislation Into Compliance; SORNA and the Military Implementation; Understanding and Interviewing Compliant Victims; Leveraging Federal, State, and Local Resources; Interpol's Role in Sex Offender Management; Residency Restrictions and Community Notification; Adam Walsh Act: Case Law Update; Sex Offender Registration and Tracking; Implementing SORNA in Indian Country; Open Forum for State Registry Personnel; U.S. Marshals Service Sex Offender Apprehension Initiatives; Prerelease Planning/prisoner Reentry; The Cycle Races and Rages - Controversies and Corrections Regarding Abuse Histories of Sexual Offenders; and Sex Offenders: A Behavioral Analysis.
