Abstract
THIS DOCUMENT CONTAINS THE FIRST NYPUM ANNUAL REPORT AS WELL AS AN EVALUATION OF ITS FIRST YEAR OF OPERATIONS. FINANCIAL DATA IS PROVIDED FOR EACH OF THE MANY LOCAL NYPUM PROJECTS. THE EVALUATION CONSISTS OF QUESTIONNAIRE RESULTS FROM A SURVEY OF PARENTS, TEACHERS, NYPUM LEADERS AND PROJECT YOUTH AND A NUMBER OF ON-SITE VISITS. THIS EVALUATION SHOWED THAT THE NYPUMS, AS A GROUP, WERE EFFECTIVE IN PROMOTING POSITIVE CHANGES IN INDIVIDUAL BEHAVIOR SUCH THAT DEVIANT BEHAVIOR IS REDUCED; POSITIVE CHANGES IN THE NATURE OF THE YMCA AS A MOVEMENT, GIVING IT MORE RELEVANCE IN TODAY'S WORLD; AND, POSITIVE CHANGE IN THE IMAGE OF YMCA AND OF MOTORCYCLING.
