Abstract
The NCJRS collection comprises published and unpublished materials originating in the United States and abroad. Access to the collection is provided through the DRI 1972-78 and the 1979 Supplement which provides three indexes to assist researchers: Subject Index, Personal Name Index, and Title Index. The Subject Index lists all relevant documents with their NCJ numbers alphabetically under criminal justice terms, displays preferred terms (see) and more specific terms (see also) when appropriate, and includes geographic terms. The Personal Name Index lists all relevant documents with their NCJ numbers alphabetically by the name of the author, editor, or project director, and the Title Index lists each document alphabetically by title. In addition, the DRI Document Citations section, listed in NCJ-number sequence, provides some or all of the following types of information for each document: NCJ number; author, editor, or project director; journal name and volume; corporate author or publisher; annotation describing contents; sponsoring agency; publication, grant, or contract number; availability; supplemental information such as conference papers; and publication language. The DRI and the 1979 Supplement are published on standard 24x microfiche, and each section is color-coded with eye-readable headers showing inclusive contents. Information on how to obtain documents listed in the DRI is included. (Author abstract modified)
