REPORT OF THE ACHIEVEMENT LEVEL OF THE PROJECT WHICH HAD AS ITS MAIN FUNCTION THE MATCHING OF NON-ADJUDICATED YOUTH EXHIBITING MALADAPTIVE BEHAVIOR PATTERNS WITH A ONE-TO-ONE VOLUNTEER MATCH AND/OR SERVICES AS NEEDED.
Abstract
THE PROJECT OPERATED FOR ONE YEAR IN EIGHT NON-METROPOLITAN COMMUNITIES. ONE OF THE PROJECT'S GOALS WAS TO ENSURE THAT AT LEAST 60 PERCENT OF THE YOUTH MATCHED FOR SIX MONTHS OR MORE WILL NOT BE ADJUDICATED FOR ANY REASON DURING THE MATCH. ANOTHER OF THE PROJECT'S OBJECTIVES WAS TO PREVENT AT LEAST 50 PERCENT OF THE CLIENTS FROM HAVING ANY POLICE CONTACT WHILE THE MATCH WAS IN EFFECT. THIS EVALUATION REVEALED THAT THE PROJECT ACHIEVED ITS OBJECTIVES THROUGH AN IMPROVED SCHOOL SITUATION AND AN IMPROVED SELF-CONCEPT AS MEASURED BY THE TENNESSEE SELF-CONCEPT SCALE (TSCS). A DISCUSSION OF THE TSCS APPEARS IN THE APPENDIX. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)...KAP
