This annual report describes Nebraska programs that address the needs of crime victims, including the Crime Victim's Reparations (CVR) program, the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) program, and the Stop Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) program.
Abstract
The purpose of the CVR program is to assist crime victims with medical expenses, mental health counseling, loss of wages, funeral bills, loss of earning power, and other expenses directly related to the criminal act. Funds under the VOCA program are used to provide direct services to victims, such as counseling, shelter, transportation, court advocacy, and assistance with the criminal justice system. The VAWA program is intended to expand and enhance training for law enforcement officers and prosecutors regarding domestic violence and sexual assault, develop training for victim service providers, provide coordinated responses to domestic violence and sexual assault victims, and enhance victim services. General information and a summary of each program are provided, as well as budget and funding data.
