THE TEST IS BASED ON THE REACTIVITY OF THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY ALIPHATIC AMINO GROUP AND MAY BE USED AS AN ADDITIONAL TEST TO DISTINGUISH METHAMPHETAMINE FROM DEXTROAMPHETIMINE.
Abstract
NEW LAWS FOR CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK SINCE 1973 DEFINE THE DEGREE OF OFFENSE ACCORDING TO WEIGHT IN THE CASE OF METHEDRINE AND ACCORDING TO AMOUNT IN THE CASE OF BENZEDRINE. IT IS THEREFORE IMPORTANT TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN THE TWO DRUGS. THE TEST DESCRIBED HERE IS SIMPLE AND QUICK, AND CAN BE EASILY ADOPTED FOR FIELD USE IN ADDITION TO A COLOR SCREENING TEST IN THE LABORATORY. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
