EVALUATIVE RESEARCH TOOL PROVIDES A SYSTEMATIC MEANS OF DOCUMENTING ASPECTS OF A PROGRAM AND SELECTED ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCES OF THE PARTICIPANTS.
Abstract
ONE OF THE PURPOSES FOR DEVELOPING PREDICTION TABLES IS USE IN PROGRAM EVALUATION. THE STUDY SHOWS HOW EXPECTANCY TABLE CLASSIFICATIONS ARE BASIC INDICATORS OF DRUG ABUSERS' LIFE EXPERIENCES AND ABILITIES. THE ARTICLE PROVIDES CLUES AS TO WHY PAROLE EXPECTANCY TABLES CAN BE EXPECTED TO DIFFERENTIATE AS TO PAROLE OUTCOME AND ARE CONSISTENT IN THEIR PREDICTIVE PERFORMANCE FOR NEW GROUPS OF OFFENDERS. THE PAPER SHOWS HOW CONSISTENT THE CLASSIFICATIONS ARE IN THEIR SELECTIVE ABILITY EVEN WHEN DIFFERENT DEFINITIONS ARE USED AS TO PAROLE OUTCOME. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
