Abstract
THE REPORT OPENS WITH AN ORGANIZATIONAL CHART OF THE PRISON, WHICH IS THE STATE'S ONLY CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION FOR ADULT MALE FELONS. A SUMMARY OF THE PRISON'S HISTORY, ADMINISTRATION, FACILITIES, AND RECENT CONSTRUCTION/RENOVATION PROJECTS IS FOLLOWED BY THE WARDEN'S REPORT ON SIGNIFICANT CHANGES DURING THE 2-YEAR REPORTING PERIOD (PHYSICAL RENOVATIONS AND PROGRAMMING). AMONG PROGRAMMING ACCOMPLISHMENTS WERE APPOINTMENT OF A FULL-TIME ATTORNEY FOR INMATES, A FULL-TIME DENTIST, AND A SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELOR; PROVISION OF 24-HOUR MEDICAL CARE; IMPLEMENTATION OF A STAFF TRAINING PROGRAM; ESTABLISHMENT OF A GRADUATED CUSTODY PROGRAM (INCLUDING THE OPENING OF MAXIMUM- AND MINIMUM-SECURITY HOUSING UNITS); PURCHASE OF AN INNATE LAW LIBRARY; AND ESTABLISHMENT OF A PRERELEASE OFFICE. THE REPORT INCLUDES DETAILS ON THE PRISON'S FACILITIES, CUSTODY OPERATIONS, STAFF TRAINING, INMATE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES, PRISON INDUSTRIES, MAINTENANCE, FOOD SERVICE, HALFWAY HOUSE, AND FINANCIAL STATUS. A STATISTICAL REPORT ON THE INMATE POPULATION, A LIST OF VISITORS, AND A SITE PLAN ALSO ARE PROVIDED. (LKM)
