THE BUREAU'S GOALS, OBJECTIVES, AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR THE YEAR ARE REPORTED, AND CASELOAD STATISTICS ARE PRESENTED.
Abstract
THE REPORT OPENS WITH AN OVERVIEW OF THE BUREAU'S RESPONSIBILITIES, GOALS AND OBJECTIVES (CASELOAD SIZE, IMPROVEMENTS IN SERVICE, COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT, PAPERWORK, STAFF SELECTION AND RETENTION, REALIGNMENT OF DISTRICTS), AND MAJOR DEVELOPMENTS. ONE DEVELOPMENT WAS AN ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE THAT FREED PAROLE OFFICERS FROM DAILY INVOLVEMENT IN PROBABLE CAUSE (REVOCATION) HEARINGS. THE BUREAU ALSO IMPLEMENTED A NEW SYSTEM FOR CLASSIFYING CLIENTS BY THEIR SERVICE/SUPERVISION NEEDS. INFORMATION AND STATISTICS ARE PRESENTED ON PERSONNEL CHANGES, PAROLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ACTIVITIES, AND TRAINING PROGRAMS. ACTIVITY SUMMARIES ARE PROVIDED FOR THE PAROLE RESOURCE OFFICE AND ORIENTATION FACILITY (A COMMUNITY-BASED FACILITY THAT PROVIDES SUPPORT SERVICES TO PAROLEES), THE VOLUNTEERS IN PAROLE PROGRAM, AND PROJECTS OPERATED UNDER STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT PLANNING AGENCY GRANTS (A COMMUNITY RESOURCE SPECIALIST PROJECT, A PAROLE VOCATIONAL SERVICE CENTER, AND A JOB PLACEMENT PROJECT). THE REPORT ALSO COVERS PAROLEE EARNINGS, PAROLEES DISCHARGED PRIOR TO THE EXPIRATION OF THEIR MAXIMUM SENTENCES, CASEBOOK REVIEWS (SPOT CHECKS OF PAROLEE RECORDS), PROBABLE CAUSE HEARINGS, PUBLIC RELATIONS, INSTITUTIONAL ACTIVITIES, FURLOUGH AND WORK-STUDY PROGRAMS, CASELOADS, AND PAROLE VIOLATIONS. TABULAR DATA ON CASELOADS AND VIOLATIONS INCLUDE COMPARISONS WITH PRIOR YEARS. (LKM)
