Security management at Parker Hannifin Corporation (Cleveland, Ohio) reflects the changing shape and growing responsibilities of industrial security at large.
Abstract
Among responsibilities of security director Edward Foley are electronic security, executive protection, personnel safety and security, background checks, ethics programs, security awareness and training, white-collar crime, and defense contractor protection requirements. A major project includes the standardization of the company's disparate alarm systems at facilities worldwide. Another is the development of employee drug abuse and testing policies and programs. By using the resources and expertise of other corporations (such as centralized equipment purchasing from a distributor) and other departments and by delegating authority, Foley is able to manage his diverse responsibilities and spend the bulk of his time on investigation.
