THE APPLICATION OF RECENTLY DEVELOPED ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES TO CRIMINOLOGICAL DATA.
Abstract
TECHNIQUES DESCRIBED REPRESENT AN ATTEMPT TO PRODUCE PREDICTIONS IN CIRCUMSTANCES WHERE INTERACTIONS AND HETEROGENEITIES MIGHT BE EXPECTED TO REDUCE THE POWER OF MULTIPLE REGRESSION METHODS. WHEN APPLIED TO A VERY UNSATISFACTORY SET OF DATA THEY PRODUCED PROMISING RESULTS. THE METHODS, WHICH PROCEED BY DIVIDING THE OFFENDERS INTO GROUPS, HAVE INTERESTING IMPLICATIONS FOR THE STUDY OF TYPOLOGY.
