Law Enforcement Explorer Posts, sponsored by local law enforcement agencies and the Boys Scouts of America, provide opportunities for young adults to explore law enforcement and criminal justice careers and to promote character development and citizenship training among youth.
Abstract
This manual contains the policies, procedures, and regulations of Law Enforcement Exploring within the New York City Police Department. Following an introductory chapter to the manual itself and other publications, the manual discusses the purpose and mission of Exploring, the program's goals and objectives, and the Explorers' organizational and command structure. Other chapters outline post elections, personnel, and uniforms and equipment. The manual describes the rules of conduct applicable to Law Enforcement Explorers, as well as the group's discipline, post meetings and training, and media relations. The final chapter highlights the proficiency awards program.
