This second volume of a three-volume report summarizing the characteristics and criminal justice processing of New York State adult felony arrests disposed in 1980 provides on overview of felony arrest processing, characteristics of arrests, and characteristics of offenders.
Abstract
The overview of felony arrest processing presents highlights of the processing, as data on both the outcomes of cases and their elapsed time for processing through the criminal justice system are presented in the form of 'tree' diagrams. Additional displays show the statewide processing of cases involving various sex, race, age, crime type, and crime class groupings. The arrest characteristics are presented in terms of year of arrest, type of offense, class of offense, attempted offenses, and the number of charges in an 'arrest event.' Information on offender characteristics covers offender attributes and offending patterns as well as single vs. multiple appearances in the cohort. For other volumes in the report, see NCJ 93255 and 93257.
