Abstract
The statistical profile is organized into five sections: criminal justice agencies; demographic and socioeconomic characteristics; crime and criminal justice activities; local assistance funds; and State correctional facilities. The section on crime and criminal justice activities covers index crimes known to the police, felony and misdemeanor arrests, arrests for the possession and sale of drugs, arrests for drunk driving offenses, felony indictments, felony and misdemeanor dispositions and convictions, sentencing, probation, alternatives to incarceration, county jail and penitentiary admissions, State prison admissions, parole supervision, and juvenile offender arrests. Appendixes contain additional statistical data on the five profile sections, with emphasis on demographic and socioeconomic characteristics, crime, and criminal justice activities by county; percent of dispositions reported by county for 1985-1987; State correctional facilities; violent felony offenses; State local assistance programs; city local assistance programs; and juvenile offender offenses. 17 references, 27 tables.
