DISCUSSION OF CRIMINAL LAW EDUCATION AND RESEARCH CENTER (CLEAR) HISTORY, ORGANIZATION, CLINICAL AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS, RESEARCH PROJECTS, AND EXTRACURRICULAR EVENTS.
Abstract
CLEAR CENTER, AND ITS OPERATING DIVISION, THE COMPARATIVE CRIMINAL LAW PROJECT, HAVE BEEN CREATED FOR THE PURPOSES OF ENRICHING AND BROADENING THE EDUCATIONAL OFFERINGS AT NEW YORK UNIVERSITY IN THE FIELD OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE, OF CONDUCTING RESEARCH INTO THE CONDITIONS OF CRIME AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE, AND OF SUGGESTING MEANS OF IMPROVING THE SYSTEM AND PROVIDING LIAISON WITH OTHER INSTITUTES AND AGENCIES IN THE FIELD OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE AND CRIMINOLOGY IN THE UNITED STATES AS WELL AS IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES. TO EFFECT THESE GOALS, A GRADUATE PROGRAM IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE (CURRICULUM DESCRIBED IN REPORT) HAS BEEN INSTITUTED TOGETHER WITH CLINICAL AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS IN THE POLICE AND COURTS PHASES OF THE SYSTEM. IN ADDITION, SIGNIFICANT RESEARCH IN FORENSIC MEDICINE, COMPARATIVE LAW, NARCOTICS, AND COMPUTERIZATION HAS BEEN CONDUCTED. THE CENTER'S PUBLICATION PROGRAM IS DESCRIBED. THE APPENDIX CONTAINS NEWS CLIPPINGS WHICH FEATURE THE CENTER.
