Abstract
The book provides general definitions of terms, such as historic building, point of safety, and permanent structure. It lists design specifications, means of egress components, equipment for fire protection, and special structures for high-rise buildings. It lists means of egress requirements, such as the number of exits required and travel distance to exits. It lists requirements for protection from hazards, such as extinguishment requirements. Similar requirements are listed and described for existing assemblies, new education buildings, day-care buildings, new health care buildings, ambulatory health care buildings, detention centers, one- and two-family dwellings, new hotels and dormitories, new and existing apartment buildings, new and existing board and care buildings, new and existing mercantile buildings, new and existing business buildings, storage buildings, and industrial sites. Annex A provides explanatory material for the requirements. Index
