Abstract
The conference theme was "Translational Criminology: Shaping Policy and Practice with Research." Following a welcome and opening remarks on Monday, a plenary panel discussed "Translating the Science of Community to Criminal Justice Practice (and Back)." Eight morning concurrent sessions addressed topics in the fields of technical forensic research, court services and proceedings, violence and victimization, and policing and public safety. Seven concurrent early afternoon sessions considered forensic technical and policy issues, shaping the future, and violence and victimization. Eight late-afternoon concurrent sessions featured topics on forensic technology research, police and public safety, shaping the future, and violence and victimization. On Tuesday, a general science poster session was followed by a plenary panel that discussed the "Ten-Year Anniversary of 9/11: Advances in Science From Tragedy." Afternoon concurrent sessions included topics on corrections as well as a continuation of issues related to courts, forensic technical research and policy, policing and public safety, violence and victimization, and shaping the future. On Wednesday, the final day of the conference, a morning plenary panel discussed the topic "Translating Science: A Town Hall on the Challenges." Morning and early-afternoon concurrent sessions considered topics related to police and public safety, corrections, and forensic technical research and policy. The luncheon keynote address was presented by Attorney General Eric Holder, Jr., and Laurie Robinson, Assistant Attorney General, Office of Justice Programs.
