Abstract
One article discusses the physical, psychological, cognitive, and behavioral consequences of child maltreatment. A second article explores some of the complex trends in property crime, rape, and violence among intimates, and highlights some of the implications of the high rates of incarceration. One article discusses how to reduce and prevent police on-the-job stress (see NCJ-181865). An article on community oriented lawyering describes an emerging approach to legal practice. “Piecing Together the Cross-National Crime Puzzle” discusses the difficulties of analyzing crime data across countries. The article focuses on property crime, violence, and corruption in Central and Eastern Europe, Western Europe, and North America. The document also contains brief summaries of other research findings; descriptions of crime- and justice-related publications, programs, research and activities around the world; and a special section concerning solicitations and awards.
