Abstract
CASES ESTABLISHING A RIGHT TO AN INTERPRETER FOR NON-ENGLISH-SPEAKING DEFENDANTS BASED ON CONFRONTATION, CROSS-EXAMINATION, AND DUE PROCESS GROUNDS ARE DISCUSSED. AFFIRMATIVE DUTIES IMPOSED BY APPELLATE COURTS CONCERNING THE DISCRETION OF TRIAL JUDGES TO PROTECT THE RIGHT ARE ALSO COVERED.
