Abstract
The article details the treatment of a juvenile offender in the Thai juvenile court system, emphasizing the probation process and after-care. The role of the central probation office in administering adult probation is detailed, with special attention given to the necessary elements of the pre-sentence investigation and the supervision process. The role of the volunteer in supervising and assisting juvenile and adult probationers is discussed, as is the role of religion in rehabilitating offenders. The article discusses legislative, administrative, and policy changes to ensure government's ability to respond to new non-institutional modes. The article describes the functions of the department of corrections in managing non-institutional programs such as parole, good behavior releases, and public work programs as well as a program to select and train volunteer after-care workers.
