PREVENTIVE MEASURES AGAINST VICTIMIZATION WHILE WALKING OR DRIVING ARE SUGGESTED; THE FILMSTRIP AND CASSETTE ARE DESIGNED FOR TEACHING PERSONAL DEFENSE TO FEMALE STUDENTS AND OTHER WOMEN.
Abstract
TECHNIQUES FOR SAFETY WHILE WALKING INCLUDE STAYING AWAY FROM POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PLACES, STAYING WHERE THERE ARE PEOPLE, KEEPING ONE'S PURSE CLOSE TO THE BODY, BEING ALERT TO POSSIBLE DANGER, AND LOOKING AND ACTING CONFIDENT. REGARDING CAR SAFETY, ONE SHOULD ALWAYS LOCK CAR DOORS WHILE IN OR OUT OF THE VEHICLE, STAY ON WELL-TRAVELED STREETS AND HIGHWAYS, AND LEAVE THE CAR IF A BREAKDOWN OCCURS. THE CAR MAY ALSO BE USED AS A DEFENSIVE WEAPON IF ONE IS BEING FOLLOWED OR IN IMMINENT DANGER; AN ATTEMPT SHOULD BE MADE TO REACH A PLACE OF SAFETY OR TO CALL ATTENTION TO ONESELF UNTIL HELP ARRIVES. WOMEN ARE CAUTIONED TO NEVER STOP FOR STRANGERS OR LEAVE THE CAR WHILE IT IS STILL IN WORKING CONDITION.
