Abstract
The Judicial Standards Commission was created by constitutional amendment in 1973 to review complaints 'concerning the qualifications or conduct of any justice or judge of the General Court of Justice.' The commission receives and investigates complaints of judicial misconduct or disability, initiates formal proceedings, conducts hearings, and recommends appropriate disciplinary action to the State supreme court or the court of appeals. The description of 1981 activities covers meeting dates and workload data. Data are provided on complaints, investigations, and formal proceedings. The appendixes provide cumulative data on the commission's activities since 1973.
