Relevant data and statistics for North Carolina are presented in this 1980 Uniform Crime Report.
Abstract
A section on the State's crime reporting program covers historical background, the Police Information Network, reporting and verification procedures, field representation, incident base reporting, contributing agencies and population coverage, and the Uniform Crime Report system flow. Considerations that should be involved in interpreting the data are discussed in the second major section. The section on State crime Index data presents information on total crime, crime rate by county, violent crime, and the specific crimes of murder, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, property crime, burglary, larceny, motor vehicle theft, and arson. Information is also provided on Index crime projections for 1981 and contributing agency profiles. Property crime data is broken down by value of property stolen and recovered by month and type, value of property stolen by offense and the average property loss by offense, and the value of property stolen and recovered by county. Arrest data, data on North Carolina law enforcement officers killed or assaulted, and a Uniform Crime Report summary are supplied. A glossary of terms and abbreviations is appended.
