REPORT ON A STUDY OF THE EXISTING CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEM IN NORTH DAKOTA, THE INFORMATION NEEDS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES IN THE STATE, AND THE COSTS OF JOINING AN ALREADY ESTABLISHED SYSTEM IN MINNESOTA.
Abstract
THE STUDY WAS CONDUCTED IN SPRING 1973 WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE ADMINISTRATION (LEAA) FUNDING. THE REVISED OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY TEAM INCLUDED REVIEWING AND DOCUMENTING THE CURRENT RECORD PROCEDURES OF THE NORTH DAKOTA CRIME BUREAU AND SURVEYING STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES TO DETERMINE INDIVIDUAL DEPARTMENTAL NEEDS AND APPROXIMATE THE NUMBER OF OFFENSES AND ARRESTS. IN ADDITION, THE MINNESOTA CRIME INFORMATION SYSTEM (MINCIS) WAS TO BE REVIEWED, A MINCIS SITE VISIT WAS TO BE CONDUCTED, AND THE COSTS OF JOINING MINCIS AND INSTALLING A COMPUTER SYSTEM IN NORTH DAKOTA TO BE DETERMINED. ALL OBJECTIVES WERE ACCOMPLISHED.
