Staying warm in cold weather has always been a problem for law enforcement, and technological developments have resulted in cold weather clothing designed specifically for law enforcement use.
Abstract
The use of new technologies and fabrics makes police clothing more versatile, allowing wider range of motion and reducing weight and bulk. As a result, police jackets currently on the market are lighter and thinner than ever but still offer superb warmth and resistance to wind and wet weather. The new fabrics are designed to manage the microclimate, the temperature next to the body, and maintain it at the most comfortable level. The layering of clothing permits police officers to customize their uniforms and have their garments match weather conditions exactly. Manufacturers of police clothing are noted. 3 photographs
