The duties of a prison guard working for the Finnish Prison Administration can vary from working in cell departments, at prison schools, in transportation of prisoners, or in various vocational areas. A prison guard must be able to tolerate conflict and face the negative aspects of his society.
Abstract
Occupational training in prison administration in Finland can be categorized as basic education which includes practical instruction in institutions and in continuing or supplementary education. Prison department employees receive a salary during their education and training periods and other benefits including housing, medical care, and recreational activities. A union promotes other employee interests.
