Abstract
THE FIRST TABLE PRESENTS AN OVERALL ANNUAL ACCOUNTING FOR DEFENDANTS ARRESTED WHO WERE DISPOSED OF IN EACH COUNTY. A SECOND TABLE IS PROVIDED WHICH CONTAINS INFORMATION ON FELONY ARREST DEFENDANTS PROSECUTED TO FINAL COURT DISPOSITION, SHOWING TOTAL NON-CONVICTIONS AND CONVICTIONS BY COURT LEVEL. THE OUTCOME OF DEFENDANTS ORIGINALLY PROSECUTED ON FELONY CHARGES AND CONVICTED IN THE COURTS DURING 1969, 1970, AND 1971 IN THE 12 COUNTIES IS REPORTED IN A THIRD TABLE. CONVICTIONS ARE SHOWN IN THREE SUBDIVISIONS: 1) THOSE REDUCED TO MISDEMEANORS AND CONVICTED IN LOWER COURT, 2) THOSE HANDLED UNDER SECTION 17 AND SENTENCED IN THE LOWER COURTS, AND 3) THOSE CONVICTED AND SENTENCED IN SUPERIOR COURTS. DETAILED COUNTY BY COUNTY TABLES ARE THEN PROVIDED, INDICATING ARREST DISPOSITIONS BY TYPE OF SENTENCE, OFFENSE CHARGED, OFFENDER CHARACTERISTICS, AND LENGTH OF TIME TO DISPOSITION. FINALLY, FELONY ARREST DISPOSITIONS BY TYPE OF OFFENSE ARE REPORTED.
