This study compares the offense, the history of violence, and the criminal history characteristics of mentally disordered and nonmentally disordered inmates in an urban jail system.
Abstract
The results of this study indicate that mentally disordered inmates in the Maricopa County Jail System were more likely to have a history of violence than the average inmate in this jail system. There were no significant differences found in this case control study, however, when offense and criminal history variables were compared across groups of independent samples of mentally disordered and nonmentally disordered offenders.
